Cambridge Area Bus Users believe that:
- Bus stops should be clearly marked, on good hard-standing, offer protection from the weather, be kept clean, with raised kerbs to allow easy boarding.
- Current, accurate, route and timetable information should be displayed at all stops.
- Information about key fares and payment methods should be provided, to avoid queries when passengers board the bus.
- There should be a further roll-out of Real-Time Passenger Information (RTPI)
We are seeking your views
- Is there clear route and timetable information at the stops which you use?
- What about fares information?
- Does it have an RTPI display? Would it benefit?
- It the bus stop sensibly located?
- Is there a shelter?
- Is there a basic bus stop pole and flag?
- Can wheelchair users access the stop?
- Is there hard-standing or muddy grass?
Do you use these stops in Gazelle Way, Fulbourn? Or do you avoid them? Let us know your views.

Why does this stop, on Parkside, Cambridge only serve routes A and D and not the citi2?

In New Road Impington, where do you catch the bus to Histon’s Duck Pond, and Cottenham? There’s neither bus stop pole, nor flag, to give a clue.

What are your views about all the stops on Milton Road where locals can wave to passengers on Milton P&R vehicles sailing past? And the stops on Histon Road where locals can watch the busway B service ignoring their wish to ride?

Which stops would benefit from RTPI?
There is some limited funding for new Real Time Passenger Information displays at additional bus stops. Cambridge Area Bus Users were contacted for advice on where they might provide the greatest benefit. The answers need to come from the membership, so please add your comments at the foot of this post.
I am working on Real Time Passenger Information Project across Cambridgeshire. I was wondering if you would be able to provide a list of some sort that would indicate bus stops in Cambridge, that you believe would benefit a lot from RTPI displays?
Of course it would be amazing to upgrade all bus stops, but that is just not feasible due to our funding restrictions. However, I thought that I would get in touch with you to see what is the demand, in which areas of Cambridge rather than guesting and planning something that people may not benefit from.

My comment is for what has been for Histon Road. We have had the Citi8 a 20 minute service, some stops good and some just a pole. The guided B Bus is just running down the road with no stop whatsoever, The present new final design will have floating bus stops at most stops. The bus stops will be suitable for the guided Bus as well so no problems for stopping if there is a will. There will be a 200 meter long buslane in the north in the inbound lane which are said to improve the journey time but is by most knowledgable persons deamed as unfit. Vehicle lanes will be increased from 2 to 3 lanes causing additional congestion not found presently. The delay and congestion is actually happening north of the A14 in the villages and not on Histon Road. During the construction time starting around May 2020 the inbound lane will be closed and some form of bus service is discussed with Stagecoach. For further information there is an Information Meeting by GCP on Monday November 25 at the Orchard Community Centre at 6pm

At both St Ives Bus Station and Warboys Clock Tower there are timetables for the County-sponsored/Dews-operated 21 service. But not for the same combination’s 22 (which runs between these two points via a different, more direct route). Seems illogical, to say the least.

I agree with Jim. This stop is a shambles – work on that stop should have been completed out of the Cycleway Project budget (since that project was responsible for removing the original stop infrastructure).

Agree with Jim. Please may I add that none of the citi 7 bus stops (both directions) on Addenbrooke’s Road have any shelter or seats and they are all very exposed.

Bus stop at Arbury Road/Milton Road junction, northbound, has no timetables.
Bus stop at Fendrayton lakes towards Cambridge has no timetable for D bus.

Hills Road, southbound, between Queen Edith’s Way and Fendon Road. This stop has only ever had a “temporary bus stop” A-frame sign, with the word “temporary” painted over, since the cycle lane works in Hills Road were completed. Why not a proper stop with pole and flag ?

One of the citi 7 stops in Addenbrooke’s Road (north side, bus towards Central Cambridge) is on the grass verge, so that you have to walk across the mud to get on or off the bus. The siting is even crazier as there is a redundant layby only a few metres away.
