Stagecoach are making a significant number of changes to the stops used by its services in Cambridge city centre from Sunday 25th July. Some involve a return to pre-Covid arrangements, but this is by no means always the case. The stops on Emmanuel Road, alongside Christ’s Pieces, will be removed. Busway route B will revert to using Drummer Street Bus Station. But there are plenty of other changes to note as well.
It’s best to check departure points for your services in advance as the distances between the current and future stops may not be trivial if you’re carrying bags of shopping!
Full details, including maps and timetables, are on the Stagecoach website.
The bus stop on Station Road, by the PEM offices has no seating, no digital information. No paper timetable, Some cyclists choose to cycle on the pavement.
If disabled, there is no way of holding a phone, let alone try and balance whilst holding a walking stick at the same time. Station road is riddled with pot holes and uneven surfaces due in part to the building works on both sides of the road. Anyone with severe arthritis would be wise not to travel in a bus in Station Road.
it is important that disabled folk to have independence, even pedestrian crossing from Botanic Gardens to Station rd or Hills road fraught with traffic light jumping.

We have long campaigned for the proper ‘bus interchange’ which the developers promised us.
Currently we have buses departing from stops a long walk away down a side street with intending passengers for the city centre expected to sprint between stops for the next departure.

What we also need to happen is to sort the mess at the Railway Station where passengers particularly for Citi 1 and 7 have a very long walk (assuming you can walk any distance).
When does temporary “become permanent by default”
