Stagecoach changes from Sunday 1st November

Changes to a number of Stagecoach services are being introduced from Sunday 1st November.

The frequency of Sunday services on three of the Park & Ride routes (PR1 Madingley Road; PR2 Newmarket Road; PR3 Trumpington) is being increased to five per hour (previously four). The only minor downside to this is that departure times from the City Centre – for those who don’t simply check their phones whilst out shopping – are not at all memorable.

On the 1 (Arbury-Fulbourn), there are minor changes to timings, Monday to Friday.

Service 7 (Cambridge-Saffron Walden) is being rerouted within the Biomedical Campus to serve the nearest stops to Cambridge South station in Francis Crick Avenue. Conversely, it will no longer call at the main railway station, using the Botanic Gardens stops on Hills Road instead.

There is rather less positive news concerning the 8 to/from Cottenham. Stagecoach’s own publicity states, with considerable understatement: “Saturday timetable updated to improve punctuality.” What this actually means in practice is that what was formerly a daytime service that operated every 30 minutes becomes one with 45 minutes between services. Yes, 45 minutes – a reduction of one third in the total number of journeys. This means that there are now even fewer journeys on Saturday than during the weekday off-peak period!

On the 13/13A/13X, the Babraham Institute stop is being withdrawn. These journeys previously operated during the morning and evening peak, Monday to Friday. This stop was added to the timetable only as recently as August 2025.
